IRDA CERTIFICATE

IRDA Certificate is a financial certification document that was given by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Those who interested in or already into it as an insurance agent or anyone else doing a job in India’s insurance sector requires this certificate.

 

Steps to Obtain an IRDAI Certificate

1.  Eligibility Criteria:

    •         Age: You need to be 18 or older.

    •         Educational Qualification: Insurance agents must have finished 10th grade at least.

    •         Other Requirements: Brokers and other jobs might need different things. Some roles call for specific education and work experience.

2.  Pick Your Path:

IRDAI presents a bunch of options to get certified, stuff like

•      Insurance Agent: You will be marketing insurance products and managing them.

·         Insurance Broker: You’re the one that links buying insurance with the insurance.

·         Corporate Agent: You get to be a voice for not just one, but for insurance companies as a whole

·         Third-Party Administrator (TPA): You’re the one who can do something about claims.

 

3.  Fulfil Training Requirements:


  • For Agents: You have to complete a pre-licensing training course from an institute recognized by the IRDAI. The training can take as little as 25 hours for life insurance agents, and 50 hours for general insurance agents.

  • For Brokers: Specialized, rigorous and intensive training is a prerequisite and, in most cases, is obtained from training centers recognized by IRDAI.

4. Pass the IRDAI Exam:

  • Upon completion of the mandatory course, you sit for an online or an offline test set by the National Insurance Academy or other institutions approved by the IRDAI. Therefore, a bare pass is required by achieving the minimum required score to clear the exam. You must take an online or offline test administered by the National Insurance Academy or other IRDAI-authorized institutions.

  • You need to achieve the minimum required score to clear the exam.

5. Submit Application:

 Upon passing the examination, forward the certificate application to IRDAI through the insurance firm/insurance broker company you work with some of the accompanied documents are training record sheet, test result, age information, academic records, etc.

Include required paperwork like training certification, test scores, age verification, academic records, etc.


6. Receive Certificate:

  • When the IRDAI considers your submission, it will issue your certification. The same license to work as insurance agents is recognized for 3 years and to maintain it, the person has to work on the CPD programme.

7. Further Specialization (if required):

Based on your chosen insurance career path, you may need specific certifications or credentials, like those mandatory for brokers, corporate agents, or third-party administrators.
